Kaori took her first yoga class at the age of 14 with her mom in a school gymnasium in her hometown of Cole Harbour, NS. At the time, she didn’t know what this “stress” all the adults were talking about was. She didn’t practise again regularly until adulthood after stumbling through a B.Sc. in Physiology at McGill University, a B.A. in English at the University of Waterloo, and part of an aimless 12-year career in the software industry. She explored many styles of yoga at dozens of studios in Toronto, but didn’t find Esther Myers Yoga Studio until 2018 when she was considering becoming a yoga teacher. Everything about being at EMYS and learning their kind and respectful approach to Hatha yoga felt right immediately. She finished the Teacher Training Programme in 2021 and is honoured to be teaching at the Studio in addition to volunteer teaching newcomers to Canada at Central Neighbourhood House and outpatients at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). She is endlessly interested in yoga as self-care—a soothing antidote to life’s challenges.
Just finished a class with Kaori Furue. Her timing and details were very instructive with great information about relaxation, self-care and breathing.
Kaori teaches with a calm and gentle manner making you feel right at home. She is a very personable instructor. SC
