Helen has been passionate about yoga ever since her first hatha yoga class in the UK decades ago. “I was privileged to be one of Esther Myers’ first students when she began instructing in Toronto in 1977,” she says. “After many years as a participant, I achieved my Certificate of Qualification from the Studio in 2011.” Since then, Helen has been teaching yoga classes at community centres all over Toronto. She also regularly leads accessible chair yoga classes for beginners, the older population, people who want something different than a fitness class, and individuals dealing with injuries or illnesses. She’s found that the joy and freedom of movement gained through yoga is a perfect preparation for her beloved summer kayaking and enjoys helping students prepare their bodies, minds and spirits for their favourite activities.
